It was early May and we had just finished a large project on a 210 ft. Offshore Oil Supply Vessel, the M/V Columbus owned and operated by Seacor International. The boat built by Master Boat Builders of Bayou La Batre, Alabama had delivered on time. A very rare task in today’s world but Master Boats is well known for their own time deliveries. This was very critical in this case since the Columbus had already been contracted on a long-term job off the coast of Macae Brazil.
The trip from the State Docks in Bayou La Batre to Brazil was 22 days long. A trip that included several very angry storms. The boat got tossed around quite a bit. When it came to port in Brazil the delivery crew reported several problems that would need immediate attention in order to pass the Brazilian Governments Coast Guard inspection.
Seacor contacted the shipyard and asked for someone to come and head up taking care of the problems on the boat. Someone that not only had experience with the equipment that they supplied but someone who had a very good knowledge of all systems on board. That’s when Gulf Coast Air & Hydraulics was called.
Being a solutions company we had the right personnel for the job. All of our technicians have passports, and all other necessary security clearances so that we can be dispatched to any place on earth at any time. We coordinated parts and a repair plan from the Shipyard. And with their guidance we traveled to Brazil and after fifteen days completed all work needed. We coordinated additional work from Siemans of Brazil and made sure that the boat passed all testing so the boat could go to work on time.
